adhd and bipolar
a person can take a med for ADHD in the morning and a med for bipolar in the afternoon?
disorder of my nine year old daughter has ADHD and bipolar. Her ADHD med says that if you are not bipolar. I wonder if this causes a reaction or if one cancels the other med.
I am 39 and have ADHD and bipolar disorder. I take medication for both. I would make sure that you are seeing a psychiatrist because you're dealing with multiple mental health problems. If your phsychiatrist is aware of the problems and knowlegable about the medicines you should have no problem of confidence in his doctor. If there is a warning about the drugs you definitely should talk to your doctor about it. However, in some cases mitigating, a physician and patient must weigh the risks against the potential benefits of using the drugs together. In these cases the doctor definitely about a patient. But all that aside I think the reason the warnings are there beacause of the stimulating effect of ADHD medications. It can induce mania. However, adequate monitoring, manic episodeds can be kept under control if balanced with adequate dose of mood stabilizer. It is a balancing act that should be closely monitored by a psychiatrist.
