anxiety and depression disability

I have a friend who is disabled due to anxiety and depression?

She will not even tell her friends that she is disabled – only immediate family – I know b / c I am disabled and she told me. If more people about your disability? She believes that people treat her differently. Should they encourage more open about it?

I have anxiety, agoraphobia and bipolar type 1. I'm very active animal rights, and when I can not do anything b / c of my illness, I have to tell the truth. So some known, others not. Most people who know do not care, have a relative or friend with depression or anxiety or bipolar disorder. I go out with Goofy quality times! I found that very few people who do not understand these diseases, there are a lot of misconceptions out there. Even My own family does not understand. So I found a bipolar group, and now there are at least 10 people you can be honest. No, no "outside" of it until ready. There is still stigma associated with mental illness. Who needs to know? Only a few people. It's a shame, cuz if I had diabetes, no would think of one thing. Most people do not need to know. That says it will tell you. And I say good luck!
