bipolar abilify

"ABILIFY bipolar weight gain?
i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and prescribed today with ABILIFY, to take my Wellbutrin. I some research about the new recipe and found that many people are gaining much weight, which is something I had with a previous antidepressant. My psychiatrist told me that wont make me gain weight. I understand different drugs have different effects on everyone, but the doc to me just lie "so that you take it? Is there another option medication for bipolar that does not make you gain weight, and that does not cause anything serious, such as motor control and crisis? Thank you all for your support.
Well you of luck with Wellbutrin, because that is the one that has antidepressant side effects generally, and may even cause weight loss. Abilify may cause the increase weight, like any drug can cause weight gain – but that is a rare side effect (most commonly headache) – weight gain is only occurs in 2-10 percent of the people, and really is not much – is a 'rare' side effect (not 'common', 'Bizarre', 'rare' and 'very rare. ") You need to be in it for a while to let come into play, so let's do that. If you start to gain weight, you can go outside it and go into something else. As simple as that. If you go outside, it might 1. increase Welbutrin, or 2. add something else. If you're so worried about weight gain, stay away from Zyprexa, Depakote and Lithium (although for many people, weight gain on Lithium is really only related to water retention, which can take care easily by drinking lots of water – it seems counter-intuitive, but how to combat swelling) – but as you said, all drugs affect everyone differently. If Abilify makes you gain weight – and still make you gain weight even if you have changed your diet and exercise – then your doctor will help you find the right treatment right for you.
