bipolar and alcoholism

fu** it im quitting all my meds?
after being treated for alcoholism, depression and bipolar, my doc finally presribed me klonapins. like an idiot, i gave half of them away. i confessed this to my doc when i ran out early. naturally, she informed me that what i had done was illegal and promptly put me on another med.. now i pissed at myself knowing i blew it and there is a better medicine sitting on the shelf, that im to immature and irresponsible to have in my possession. so the hell with it. if i cant have the best, i dont want any of it. my question is…………. what can she do to me legally? does she have the power to have me committed? will she report my illegal activity to the authorities? what do you think?
Are you going to AA?
1st thing, if you are an alcoholic and want to stop playing doctor yourself, AND you might be hitting meetings talking to a sponsor instead of trying to treat your own illnesses.
What can a doctor do if you refuse treatment? Nothing unless you are court ordered to take meds or under a protective custody order she can’t do much.
tell your doctor if you are serious about your sobriety to re-evaluate the medications in light of wanting to be sober. Benzodiazipines such as Klonidine, can assist in withdrawal symptoms from ETOH, but should be for short periods only and should never be used if you are drinking or druggin.
If someone has power of attorney for your care this person can enlist the court to get you in a place where you won’t hurt yourself or others.
I have to say as a recovering drunk if I were your sponsor I’d tell you if you want to have a 1/2 way decent life to get off your ass and grow up. it’s your choice. Drink or drug yourself into oblivion or get serious about living life on life’s terms.
