bipolar and schizophrenia differences

I have a friend named John. For nearly two decades, John was diagnosed as a manic depressive. He had been given this diagnosis on four different occasions during those years.

John's medical condition was the back, again because of their financial situation. It was never really in a program sufficient time to obtain the correct medication. Medications for bipolar disorder are not one size fits all and can be extremely difficult to achieve in the right medicine.

Finally, John was able to get into a system that would offer long term support, regardless of their financial situation. There was finally hope for him.

However, a curious thing happened when it was through further consultations with their doctors to verify their condition. After being four times diagnosed as a manic depressive, now says that while it is perfectly possible that depression and mania was not what you really need classes anger management. He said that maybe he had hypomania.

How can this be? Why was told many times that he had, and what is hypomania?

Mania vs. hypomania

John had episodes where he flew into a rage, screaming and throwing things. It also had more happy episodes in which states entered hyperactivity. In these situations would sing, tell jokes and act silly. That does not sound so bad in itself, but when he does constantly to the point that you deal with people around you nuts, may have a problem. Especially if you are running up and down the aisles to do so.

So John asked him how long did that time. The answer was that rabies can continue for several days, perhaps even a week or two. Part Super Silly might be in and out of two or three days.

He also asked if he ever got in his car and drove very fast and recklessly reckless. The answer was no. Then he asked if he had time to sexual behavior abnormally active. Again, the answer was no. It was then told that I had no hobby, but hypomania.

Apparently, hypomania is a much milder version of full-fledged mania. In mania, really, you can have racing thoughts, hear voices, have delusions of grandeur, increased irritability and anger, and talks very fast.

In hypomania, which have increased levels of creativity and ideas, energy, and feelings of euphoria. While it may not sound that different from regular hobby, it's softer. In fact, many productive workaholics have this condition. That may sound ideal, but the truth is that as time passes, can progress into full-blown mania, which is not at all desirable.

Treatment for both conditions is essentially the same. A mood stabilizer should be used for mania or hypomania keep occurring, and an antidepressant be used to maintain the depression occurs.

Now that John was confused about what was said unlike what had previously said, it seems The diagnosis was later reversed. The more the doctor has worked with him, eventually learned that was actually a manic depressive, and not a "depressive hypomania. The difference now is that it was a misunderstanding.
