What should I do if I think I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar or other mental illness?
I think they misdiagnozed me. The reason is because none of my family and / or family members with schizophrenia and schizophrenia doctors left me just because I had some symptoms. What I will do anything to change doctors? Why else would I be diagnosed?
Just because your family has a history of schizophrenia, does not mean that are exempt as well. Family history is only an indicator as to many other things. If you feel your doctor is wrong, then discuss this with him / her. You may only have some signs of schizophrenia but not all. Some doctors are willing to over-diagnosis for you, the patient may receive therapy they need and have your insurance or Medicare will help where it otherwise would not have received any assistance. If they are unwilling to help, perhaps an indicator aid that can receive and make at least one other opinion.
