Possible to cure bipolar?
I’ve read that scientists in Australia were trying to find cures for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I don’t believe it’s possible. My boyfriend says it is. His arguement? That the brain can correct itself. Everyone elses thoughts?
I know there’s treatment, I’m bipolar. Don’t need to tell me twice.
And for those who say there is a cure would you mind explaining…?
Well, since there is a genetic predisposition to it I think THAT will be where the CURE will manifest itself. Which is good enough for me. To know that my kid and her future generations WILL NOT have this genetic time bomb ticking away. That is good enough for me.
And for all the posters that say it is a fake illness. You have NO CLUE the torment and destruction this REAL chemical imbalance can cause.
I was always mainstream and functional and contributing to society. Well, this genetic time bomb decided to go off when I encountered a year of extreme stress. The predisposition to this REAL illness unlocked Pandora’s box and I went through absolute hell until the docs diagnosed me correctly. Its incredible that for a FAKE illness that the meds they put me on stabilized me and I returned to the mainstream as a functional and contributing member of society. You guys piss me off. You REALLY have NO CLUE.
The torment and devastation to my life and my families life was very real. Like I would have gone through that willingly.
Yes, there are posers. Let the drama queens pose. I don’t care.
My extended family is slowly beginning to be diagnosed and maybe, just maybe they will start using the legal meds instead of the street drugs that they were self medicating with.
Positive thinking and Pollyanna attitudes don’t cut it when its a CHEMICAL IMBALANCE.
