bipolar education
If you had or have bipolar disorder, what kind of information would you want?

Would you look for a book, would you ask a question on Yahoo!, would you do a course, would you google ‘bipolar’, would you join a support group? What else would you do?

I’ve been looking for information to control my bipolar disorder since 1985. That has come from a huge variety of sources, mostly random. Why can’t there be some sort of uniform education for bipolar?

Hi:

It is a nice idea to find some uniform information on Bipolar but unfortunately it is just not that way. If you are looking for information on Bipolar then do all of your above ideas and any other idea’s to get information. Read about it and retain the information that you need.

The is a fantastic book, well written by Kay Redfield Jamison titled “The Unquiet Mind”. This book was suggested to me years ago by a diagnosing psychiatrist. It is a fantastic book about Bipolar and I have learned so much from it. When I need to be grounded, looking for some peace or just need something, I take out the book and reread it again and it always helps me out so much. I suggest this book for people that have Bipolar and also for family and friends of someone with Bipolar.

Also, here are some links that may be helpful to you on Bipolar information:

http://bipolar.about.com/

These are just a few sites that I use. I usually go to www.ask.com and type in Bipolar Disorder and there you will get information that I hope will be what you are searching for.

As for support groups, I think they are fantastic. If you have access to one then maybe you may want to look into 1 or 2 and see if you like them. You can also join on line support groups for Bipolar. On Yahoo’s home page there is a link titled “groups”, simply click on that and you should find the list fairly easy to get to.

If I can help you in any way, please feel free to contact me. My contact info is in my profile.
