How long are the episodes that affect bipolar 1 and 2.?
I know all the basics on bipolar, I just do not know how time an "episode" would last. For example I know it can take years, but I have hypomania for 1 week with some "drops" that make me go back to the depression for a couple of hours. Then I go back to hypomania, BS nonaggressive sleep thanks for your help! but it seems that deadlines are often never discussed specific enough for my needs.
There is no specific answer. In general, mania or hypomania has to last a few days or else Otherwise it is difficult to tell if you are just having a good day (or bad). To reach a diagnosis, doctors are looking for trends. Depression clinical + one episode of (hypo) mania. For some people who are manic only once a year, if less. Other cycle much faster. The purpose of a diagnosis is not for giant rubber stamp, but to help shape a treatment plan. It is a guideline on where to start.
