bipolar first manic episode

People with bipolar-what was your first manic/hypomanic episode like?
Did you just wake up one day and have all the symptoms or did they come gradually?
If they came gradually which ones came first? How old were you when you were diagnosed? Were you depressed first?
Thanks
I was diagnosed bi-polar when I was 12 years old, I am now 29. No I did not just wake up one day and things had changed as long as I can remember I was always different from other children, things that would not normally make someone mad would infuriate me. It wasn’t until my uncle died that I was really close to that my parents notice a major change with my attitude and the way I spoke, instead of calmly speaking I would speak at a rate of 100 words in a min. Very fast I was constantly moving could never stay still, could not concentrate on one subject I had to have several going. Upon my parents taking me to a doctor for counseling on the death of my uncle did they find that I was consider a manic depressant/bi-polar. At first they had me on all kinds of medication because bi-polar was still a new illness, I had to go through several different treatments over the years, But I have found that now if you mange what you take into your body you can control what and how you feel . I have bad days and good days, everyday is an adventure, however, you can make it as long as you try. Yes, you might feel depressed until you figure everything out but you are not any different then the next person your brain just handles things in another way then someone else.
