Omega 3 fatty acids / Bipolar?

I heard that if you take the Omega 3 fish oil can help someone with bipolar mood stabilization. Has anyone tried and seen no effect on your mood. Thanks

Hey, I used Omega 3 (like flax seed and supplements fish oil) together with my normal regimen of medication, not instead of and it seems to help a little. I have bipolar 2 and experienced no adverse side effects, as mania – My psychiatrist has never heard of this BTW. I asked about the possibility, when first suggested O3 take fish oil as part of my routine daily, so I hazard a guess to say its very rare indeed, and still used in the treatment of clinical depression and other mood disorders. It is being used on their own to treat depression under the same level in both St. John's wart, but not with better results, while not taking St Johns wart mood stabilizers or antidepressants, which can interfere with your medication, cause adverse reactions or reduce the effectiveness of the drug. Its safer than most supplements when used complementary to other conventional drug therapies. So assuming you are not allergic to seafood or the flaxseed, should be OK to use with your medications, but certainly ask your docs first and only taken according to directions.
