bipolar ii rapid cycling treatment
Have there been recent developments in the treatment of bipolar II disorder?
Does anyone have any information on new developments in the treatment of bipolar II disorder or rapid cycling bipolar disorder? I especially would like information on new drug therapies. I been trying to manage my bipolar disorder in the past 20 years and have grown very tired of being over-medicated in an attempt to control symptoms, or being trapped in a cycle of drug roulette with my doctors. Thanks in advance for your answers, as always, respect each other. Namaste. Some of the medicines that have taken in the past are: Depakote, Lamictal, Neurontin, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Geodon, Abilify, Ativan, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and a host of others who do not remember this time. Thanks Mina. I tried once Trazedone, hospitalization, and had very bad side effects from it. : (Ms Cat: Thanks for the reply. I have been through the TDC in intensive outpatient treatment twice, and has been very helpful, especially with controlling anger.
I was not aware of any new treatments for bipolar disorder, although I know that Cymbalta is fairly new, and Tegretol (which is actually an anticonvulsant) has been used off-label for that in recent years. I have bipolar myself, but I found that a combination of Cymbalta, Tegretol and Trazedone found to be the ideal combination for me. Do not lose hope. It took 10 years to find out where I should be on medication, and now I take a very low dose and am able to control my symptoms. You can e-mail if you want to talk someone with bipolar, my address is in my profile. Edit: sorry that you had side effects with Trazadone, is apparently very low risk of side effects short and long term, unlike Seroquel you mentioned you have taken. Has your doctor has proved that the Tegretol? As I mentioned before is generally used as an anticonvulsant and prescribed to patients with epilepsy, but has shown great promise in treating symptoms of bipolar disorder especially the type of symptoms related with mania. I used to be angry, frustrated, irritable and restless quite often, and Tegretol helped me a lot with that. Cymbalta is also very effective in treating depression, and it also helps with the physical part, if you get aches and pains when you're depressed after Cymbalta can help. Not good health overmedicated you. If you find that your doctor is doing is necessary to try to find another doctor. The doctor will give you enough medication to help manage their symptoms. Nothing clears, you'll always have bipolar, but the right combination of medications may make your symptoms manageable. Namaste, and best of luck to you.
