The kitchen is one of the places of the house that is the most used and therefore also one of the most abused. Because it serves as a central food-making is vital that this area of the house is clean and organized. One or two days of chaos can mean hours of cleaning and organization of time. Here are some ideas to help to get the worst of your kitchen organization problems under control.
I know that a problem in my own kitchen is to make sure that everyone clean themselves. To help with this, we have a house rule: If you make a mess in the kitchen to clean. This applies to foods associated with dirt and other messes in the kitchen. So if you bring a lot of school work or e-mail in the kitchen to do homework or pay bills, make sure what brings you back to the kitchen. For your organization to the kitchen to go smoothly, you also have to ensure that cleaning counters and putting the dishes in the dishwasher is part of this rule.
But, as is the case with any house rule, which is not the problem, implementation is. One consequence appropriate for not following the rule could be that whoever does not follow the rule gets stuck in the cleaning of the kitchen for a week. To help ensure that everyone know the rule, as in a piece of brightly colored paper in the kitchen and make sure you clearly define what defines a disaster and what the appropriate cleaning home. In order for the organization of cooking and cleaning to be part of your house rules, cleaning needs to be defined clearly and consequences not follow the rule of necessity to be in place.
Make sure everything has a place in the kitchen and everyone at home knows where that place is. If the It does not have a specific place in your kitchen, it will be difficult to get someone at home to store things. Part of that means making sure things like "live" together in your kitchen.
My only caution is that different people have different definitions of what "as" things are. If you are the one has done the initial work of organizing the kitchen, make sure everyone in your household is very clear on what your definition of "like" things are. So if you have organized all daily use items together, making sure everyone in your home and you know that knows where those issues. If you have organized all the glasses and cups an area, make sure everyone in your household knows where those are.
As with many things in life, making sure that kitchen organization is part of everyone’s routine in your home is about communication. You need to make sure that you appropriately communicate your expectations of what a clean and organized kitchen looks like.
