Should I date a Bipolar Girl?
I have met a wonderful girl in her mid 20s with a degree…still looking for work as its scarce. hes smart, pretty and just my type. however she has confessed 2 weeks into knowning each other she has Bipolar disorder. I am 26 and was not too sure what it was so i asked my mom. she flipped and told me to say away. I educated myself a bit about it, she seems so normal and says she has not had a relaspe for 5 years and can spot the warning signs. she has medication for it. I am very unsure wheather i can cope with this and my gf when she has one of those mood swings when shes stressed. Can i live with a depressive? I dont know…please advise.
Would you date her if she were diabetic or if she had a heart condition? Both of those would require you to deal with her illness. Yes bipolar disease is a little bit different but if she has been stable for five years then she obviously takes her meds and tries to do everything possible to stay healthy. I would ask myself if I wanted to date this girl then if the answer is yes, then research bipolar disease and figure out what you might see in the future. Don’t give away a possible great relationship due to fear. Just let your heart guide you.
