bipolar mood stabilizers
Am I on too many mood stabilizers?
I have bipolar and I am on Lithium, for a mood stabilizer, I am on Seroquel, for a mood stabilizer and a antipsychotic. I am also on Kilonopin and Paxil. Also, I am on Lamictal and Topamax for siezures. Lamictal is also a mood stabilizers. I am going through a mixed state with psychotic features. Too much medicine?
i was very recently diagnosed as bipolar as well. i’m no doctor, but that sounds like way too much at once. were you introduced to these medicines one by one, slowly? if you worked your way up to that much… i dunno, maybe it’s necessary? but if they gave you all of that at once, it just seems irrational. normally doctors want to play it safe with medicines and see what works and what doesn’t. if you got put on like 10 different meds at once, how do they know which one of them is working? how would they know which one was giving you negative side effects? also, you have to be careful mixing meds… like i said, i’m not a professional, but that seems excessive. you should ask your psychiatrist if all that medicine could be making you worse…
