Concerned about bipolar disorder during pregnancy?

Diorder I have been diagnosed with bipolar and depression. I had been taking drugs and kept my diorder under control in recent years. Now I think I'm pregnant, and although not confirmed, my doctor advised me to start lowering the dose as to stop the medication for fear of hurting the baby. I worry that without my medication that can again be very depressed or in a state of Mainia. I worry that something terrible may happen to me or my son accidentally. I had a history of suicidal tendances before starting this medication. I intend to discuss this with my doctor and see what counseling, but I was wondering if anyone else may have had the psychological problem / Medcial it (just to ease my mind)

I know a friend who is bipolar and has 3 children. She does take medication for 7 months and tried to kill himself 9 months after his recent child was born. Once turned on medication following his attempt, he has recovered very well. People have the freedom to get pregnant and raise children. The attitudes of the other poster belongs back in a time when the mentally ill were locked up and forcibly sterilized. Postpartum depression has affected Brooke Shields and countless other women. Work with your doctor who knows what is best for you – Very low doses of the drug is better than nothing once the fetus formed neural tube and style. Good luck to you.
