Many people suffer from bipolar disorder, and unfortunately, is often undiagnosed. Some people suffer for years before finally getting the right help, while some never get to help all and end suicide. When diagnosed, it requires modification of specific drugs to help at appropriate times, and counseling.
So what is bipolar disorder? It is also known as manic-depressive condition and the causes of a person is very depressed, sometimes very euphoric and then in others. Both men and women can suffer from bipolar disorder that can strike at any age, but many people seems to begin to notice symptoms in their twenties, although teenagers have been diagnosed as well. It also appears that about 85% of people who suffer Bi-polar has a family history of depression.
Health experts classify bipolar disorder into four types: Bi-polar Affective Disorder 1, Bi-polar Affective Disorder 2, Cyclothymic Disorder, and Bi-polar affective disorder, not otherwise specified.
 • Bi-polar disorder type 1 is when mania occurs full blown. Bi-polar 1 versus episodes of mania associated with bi-polar. A person with Bi-polar 1 is extremely restless and energetic, and has trouble sleeping and your mind asked non-stop and seems to talk much more than usual. Sometimes even have hallucinations and in some cases are even believed that "psychotic". Where extreme polar Bi-1, a person may even have to be limited.
 • Bi-Polar Disorder 2 is sometimes referred to as "Swinging Bi-polar". A person diagnosed with Bi-polar 2 can experience at least one depressive episode and a manic episode. Unlike polar Bi-1, patients diagnosed with Bi-polar 2 are not known to psychotic episodes. They can, however, suffer badly from depression and depression sometimes this will collapse all at once in the loss of a loved one, work, relations, etc. and it will be very difficult for them to cope.
 • Cyclothymic disorder is when a person has a period of mania and depression, but not to a significant degree. The manic and depressive episodes may come and go over a period of time, but not enough to meet the criteria for depression major.  • Bipolar Disorder – NOS is a person who has some characteristics of the Bi-polar, but none of which can be classified as one of the other three types. If the patient's family has a history of both depression and mania, then there is the possibility that depression is not the only thing the patient has to worry about. Fortunately there is help and treatment for those with any type of bipolar disorder. There are qualified doctors and therapists can recognize the early symptoms in patients and provide help and support. Although there is no cure, there is a good deal out there.
