bipolar thyroid symptoms
bipolar / overactive thyroid?
I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I'm starting on lithium, so I had to have a standard blood test done and I happen to have an overactive thyroid. Is it possible to be both bipolar and has a thyroid problem? I know the thyroid can cause symptoms of bipolar disorder. I know that lithium can make this happen, but I have not taken medicine yet, so it is not 'cos of this. I have an appointment tomorrow morning so I'll see her then, but I just want to know if you can have both?
Yes, but … I think would be desirable to defer the treatment of BP and focus on issues (thyroid problems can mimic mood disorders) … see how it's done when the control that takes place before you start in life-long journey of trying to manage bipolar disorder … when in fact you can not have at all.
