birth control pills bipolar

Will birth control pills interfere with Lamictal (for bipolar)?

I keep hearing that birth control pills help clear up acne. Mines continues to receive worse as I get older. I'm 19 and I think I have more pimples now than I did when I was in middle and high school combined (and not just face). I go to a dermatologist, thoroughly wash my face every day, things prescription use, all you can think, and nothing works! I think you might want to start monitoring birth, but I worry how that might affect my other medication. I've been on Lamictal for about five or six years, and I have no intention of getting out soon because it has been great for me. I've heard that birth control may interfere with certain drugs for the treatment of bipolar disorder. What could happen if I start birth control?

I was just researching this, because I am experiencing lithium-induced acne … I found this page: http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums/general-support/4071-birth-control-options is best to talk to her psychiatrist and a gynecologist on the control of birth. Talk to a dermatologist too! I guess everyone reacts differently to different types of birth control, but bipolar can do things a little difficult, as hormonal changes can trigger episodes. Please let us know what the doctors say I'm very curious myself! Good luck:)
