Carbamazepine (Tegretol) for bipolar?
Has anyone taken Tegretol for bipolar? I was just prescribed this for my bipolar symptoms to address these mood swings. How long should it take to start to kick in? I've been in a dose of 200 mg 1X daily for a week and just switched to 400 mg once day … Is it supposed to help keep people busy little things.? And if you go down and prevent depression? * How long does it take to boot? Thanks for the replies.
I've never tried the drug before, despite suffering from depression (bipolar disease). My good friend was on Tegretol for a while and I liked it better than Celexa and tastes. He said, "reassures him down." Recently, however, I read something online about the drug that causes serious skin problems to Asian … so if you're Asian, you may want to ask your psychiatrist to switch to something different. It usually takes about 5-7 days for these drugs to boot (which does not depend on the drug, of course, but most antidepressants are well). Hope that helped.
