According to a 2009 report from the Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's disease affects 5.3 million Americans, and the association predicts that number will increase 8 million over the next 20 years. There is no medical cure for Alzheimer's disease, but two recent studies suggest that healthy habits can prevent and delay disease.

This has been published in the medical journal Dementia and Geriatric Cognitive Disorders in 2009. If an individual who has high cholesterol, moderate in their middle of the 40 is supposed to have double the chance of developing the disease when they reach 60. He also explained that the study followed 9844 subjects 30 years and found that people who suffer from high cholesterol levels, such as 240 or more are 57% more chance of developing Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, people with cholesterol border say 200 to 239 have 23% chance of developing the disease.

Some neurological studies in animals have suggested that elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood can promote the development of a brain-clogging substance called beta-amyloid protein.

Other risk factors for developing disease Alzheimer's include high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking and a diet high in fat. With the exception of smoking, all the above risk factors are related to diet. A healthy diet is the best way to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Unfortunately, the typical American eats a diet high in fat, sugar and food processed. A healthy diet should contain less fat and more whole fruits and vegetables. A 2009 study published in the Journal of American Medical Association concluded that individuals who consumed a Mediterranean diet (relatively high in fruits, vegetables, fish and olive oil), exercise regularly and enjoyed a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease up to 50 percent.

Speaking on the prevention of Alzheimer's disease appears to be more useful exercise than diet. It is found by researchers who exercise alone can reduce the risk by 50 percent and 40 percent of risk can be reduced by following a proper diet. For this study the researcher investigated for 1880 people a range of five years.

Blood flow is reduced and our cardiovascular system is weakened when there is little or no exercise. When flow is reduced blood can damage tissues and cells begin to die. Both the heart and brain stay healthy by doing regular exercise, blood flows strongly due to exercise.

Certain neuroprotective substances in the body has established and fostered by the exercise of regularly. When more physical activity in the brain are active automatically because both are interrelated.

"Regular physical exercise is probably the best way we can prevent Alzheimer's disease today, better than drugs, better than intellectual activity, better than supplements and diet, "said Dr. Ronald Peterson, director of Research for the Alzheimer's Center at the Mayo Clinic.

A gym-sculpted physique is not required to obtain the benefits of protection AD. The important thing is to avoid downtime. Inactivity – no-movement – allows the body begin to decompose. Motion – physical activity – allows the body to regenerate. Get out of your chair and move!
