One of the most frustrating symptoms of fibromyalgia is the inability to concentrate or remember due to the cognitive dysfunction that is commonly known as "fog fibro "or" brain fog ". On top of managing chronic pain and sleep disorders may also have to work their way through fog.
You may lose your train of thought in the middle of a conversation or not being able to remember what someone just said a couple of minutes. Although there is no cure for this there are some things you can do to help clear the fog:
Keep your mind active. Crossword puzzles and reading can create stimulation and improve brain function and memory.
Write things down. Using a daily planner, or a grocery shopping list or things that can help. Even if you think you will remember something, it's a good idea to write in case.
Seek treatment. Fibromyalgia has many symptoms such as depression and sleep disorders. If you receive treatment for these symptoms is possible that you can concentrate better.
Remove excess noise. If you are working on a project or anything that requires concentration may be helpful to find a quiet place to do this. Background noise can create distractions that can take your attention the task at hand.
Take it easy. If you take too many things at once you may find yourself overwhelmed and this can cause additional stress or fatigue that eventually will make their symptoms worse.
