dealing with bipolar loved ones

What resources are available for spouses of people with bipolar disorder?
My wife was diagnosed with manic / disorder bipolar six years ago and are still struggling to find all the aspects of stability. Finally, it is taking a serious emotional toll on me and I worry that I will spend the rest of my life as a caregiver more than one spouse. Our marriage is in trouble. In working to help manage and live with mental illness, I worry I have not found sufficient coping skills to help cope with the disease as well. Sometimes I feel like the spouse of a person with Alzheimer's – look helplessly from the outside, as more and less recognizable with each other. I identify with those suffering from mental illness. Which of your spouses? What resources are available to us so we can maintain a measure of mental health and help our loved ones to find the balance they need?
