diagnostic criteria bipolar disorder

What is the sudden fascination with bipolar disorder?

It seems like every question I ask to see something like "Could it be bipolar?" or "Is my friend bipolar" And God forbid that anyone mention the mood swings in a question. Nevertheless, from diabetes / hypoglycemia, impaired thyroid menoause, or just normal teenage angst can make the "long-term changes in mood" automatically prompts a minimum 3 responses that say, "bipolar". Only 1-2% of the population has some form of this condition, so it seems very unlikely that there are so many people round to meet the diagnostic criteria. If people find a fashionable diagnosis, let me say: it is not. The media has focused both in this disorder is only recently that simly top of everyone's mind these days? Opinions?

is easy to label someone rather than really know what they often do not have bipolar, but something completely different from how to help people improve as best we can, instead of labeling
