elderly bipolar disorder
Do not stop Bi Polar?
Hi I have bipolar and has been receiving treatment for over 4 years now. I know that older people suffer from depression, but I have not Wittness elderly person with BIPL. I have worked in hospitals, clinics and I have never seen anyone over 60 years with the disorder. My doctor says bipolar worse with age! Is there a possibility that bipolar may decrease with age and actually go?
From what I understand, the cycles become faster with age (mine certainly have over the past 25 years). However, there are two schools of thought about gravity: it is said that the episodes Evere become less with age, the other says something worse. My experience has been that they have worsened, and anecdotal evidence that is corroborated by the fact that many are not diagnosed bipolar into middle age (he was 41) when the cycles gone so far as they are hospitalized or forced trratment search.
