family support bipolar

I get no support from anybody with my mental illness?
I have few mental disorders from my past because I was abused by a family member when I was 13 and now I’m 31. I suffer from bipolar, anxiety, post traumatic stress. Nobody gives me emotional support when I need it and people criticize me and say negative things, Do you think that’s what’s making me worse? Also, people manipulate me as well
First, you need to realize you are not alone. There are plenty of us out there who battle with metal disorder(s) everyday. And we each have our own way of dealing\handling our own mental disorder. You definitely should not be ashamed of having one.
I was diagnosed with bipolar about ten years ago. As the years went by, I learned more and more about my disorder, and I realized I should strive to be as independent as I can. In my opinion, I do not think we should use our mental disorder as a handicap for anything. Instead, we should handle/deal with our mental disorder so we can contribute to society in a positive way just like everyone else. I am not going to lie…life can be a little tougher for us sometimes, but there’s is help for us out there.
Like me, I think you need to build your own support system. Since you suffer from multiple mental disorders, perhaps it’s best to find a therapist. I’ve seen one for about ten years, and she has really help with my everyday life. Therapy will teach you how to handle your anxiety and how to look at things from a different perspective (most of the time, that’s all we need to do when we are down). As time goes on, you will learn how to handle your issues, and as a result, you will need less and less support.
You’ve done the first step: you reached out for help. Now keep going…there are people out there who can help you get better.
Good luck to you.
