helping bipolar friend

If a person asks a question about a friend who is bipolar?
Would not it be the best thing to do is tell them, read about it? I have a son who is mentally ill and I have always researched questions about your illness, I told someone else to read about the illness of his friend is suffering and I was informed yahoo.Am i wrong to ask him to do what is right? It was not the intention of hurting another person, who was destined help.Educating yourself is the first step to understanding. You all have the best answers! Thanks!
I agree with you, it is best to educate yourself from trusted sources. This questions Yahoo in fact, just to get views and a bit of advice or sympathy (or critical). For information about health matters (or whatever) to reach experts and get facts. I find it surprising that someone might report to advise them to get more information, try not to let it get you down.
How do you deal with bipolar friends… and do you bring everything down to mental illness?
