That's what tetrachord is called the "descending minor." In case, the big words scare you, all it means the first four notes of a smaller scale down. These notes are a low ostinato (or a figure repeated over and over again), not only in this song, but in other compositions, as well as the South African folk song "The Cat Came Back". It is also repeated in most of the compositions entitled Chaconne, including the famous Chaconne Vitali.
