Is not it possible weight gain on lithium?
I have not started the medication, but they have prescribed a very low dose. The lowest, 300 mg. This is the Obviously my first experience with this drug. I have been prescribed some of the newer ones, such as Lamictal. Weight gain can be avoided while I am in it? Is the drug itself effective for any of you out there with bipolar disorder?
I would not be here today if not for my lithium! I've been there for about 10 years for my ultradian rapid cycling bipolar II. It's a miracle drug for me! When I started lithium … if I won about 5 to 6 pounds. Then in the first year I have lost weight. I have maintained my weight over the past 10 years. With all that said, know that everyone reacts to medicines very differently. I wish all the best!
