manic depressive bipolar

what is the reputation of manic depressive illness aka bipolar?
Many notable artists/mathematicians/musicans etc have had bipolar but I’m curious what the word on the street is?
Does it indicate low intelligence how would the “street” reputation be compared to lets say schizophrenia?
Thanks to anyone who can aptly answer this question – please nothing *too* derogatory.
Hi there, my diagnosis is schizo affective which mean i have symptoms of schizophrenia as well as a mood disorder, in my case bipolar. I would say that i am of average intellect. during my depressive episodes as well as my psychotic episode there is def a boost in my creativity both in arts & crafts as well as writing abilities. during my manic episodes there is a boost of energy and physical fitness level, during my last major manic episode at age 24, not have ridden a bike since i was 12, i decided i wanted to start cycling, the first day i rode 10 miles, there was no fatigue and no soreness… I continued riding EVERYDAY 10-16miles, this lasted well over 2months (until someone stole my bike)
… all that being said, when i was 1st diagnosed w/the schizophrenia part, my dr. recommended me attend this group where there were approx 6 other schizophrenic… this group quickly became a bore as i could not hold an educated conversation w/these people, they were def of below avg IQ…and the really sad part of that group is that 2 of the “case workers” were not too far above them intellectually … I am now at a different center and absolutely love the “case workers” there, but have not attended any of there groups (I get 1 on 1 counseling) to tell you about other clients there
