How do I tell my parents that I have bipolar disorder?
Hello, I'm 15, freshman in high school. I pretty sure I have bipolar disorder. I have been diagnosed with it yet, but have most of the symptoms, like feelings and attempt suicide. My first depressive episode was last summer, a couple of weeks before school started. He has to rely on a friend of mine from these things, but he declined just as hormones. I think I have my mom, my family has long suspected of having it, and I've seen her pick-up brochures about it. But she has never been diagnosed. I would like know about how to tell my parents I think I have bipolar disorder, and want to see a psychiatrist. I'd rather not mention the suicide, as I fear there overreact. I just want to convince them to take me to a psychiatrist. That, or I wait until I get my driver's license to drive one.
If you think you have Bi Polar go see your doctor and ask them or ask for a referral to a child psychiatrist. The mental health professionals do not like the diagnosis of children with mental disorders and even more so do not like putting them on medication because it has a huge cost in human body. I have Bi Polar and have been constantly to different psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors and mental health agencies. In your case, is the best hope we have not Bi Polar. is self degrading and demeaning. If your family has a strong history of mood / personality disorders or mental health then you have a much higher chance of having one, especially if your family immediately. Also, if you have the genes that are not always necessarily mean you will succeed, but usually if you have a huge turnover in your life that not for better, or a traumatic event or stress, can trigger the gene and develop symptoms over time and usually only get worse, especially if left untreated. Of course, you will have to tell your parents about their concerns, especially if you are diagnosed with Bi Polar. It is simply impossible to keep people who live with you in many ways, or his family. Otherwise, lead to your family is shattered and your thinking a bad person. This happened with my family. If you are worried about their reaction, moreover, to suicidal thoughts or tendencies, stop it. There has to say. Tell them that you care about it same and that you have been feeling the same lately, describe the symptoms you have (of course, leaving bits of suicide if you feel better) and tell your mother, as women tend to be more compassionate, well if you think lead to a doctor for what they have to say. If she says you're being silly and worrying too much, tell can not differnitiate between certain things (only if this is true, but that is a symptom of Bi Polar) Do not say you think you have Bi Polar, only be described symptoms, parents usually deny that there is nothing wrong with you if you say you feel you have a certain disorder, as more mature people know, disorders, such as Bi Polar, schizo affective disorder and Schziophrenia are lifelong conditions that is very difficult to treat, generally, to deny it and stuff. So yeh, and if their parents refuse to believe you, you can go see a doctor for yourself, I live in Australia and if you're a health care system, usually get your appointment for free and will be billed in bulk. Im assuming you live in the U.S., as you said freshman?, As I do not know what the system Health is like there. All the best, hope you do not have Bi Polar, who wouldnt want one. The depression or disorder, such as having a better prognosis than Bi Polar or schizo affective disorder.
