how will that will help you deal with individuals that are afflicted with such?
Schizophrenia is characterized by profound disruption in cognition and emotion, affecting the most fundamental human attributes: language, thought, perception, affect, and sense of self. The array of symptoms, while wide ranging, frequently includes psychotic manifestations, such as hearing internal voices or experiencing other sensations not connected to an obvious source (hallucinations) and assigning unusual significance or meaning to normal events or holding fixed false personal beliefs (delusions). No single symptom is definitive for diagnosis; rather, the diagnosis encompasses a pattern of signs and symptoms, in conjunction with impaired occupational or social functioning –> Source DSM-IV
Bipolar disorder is split into 2 different categories, Bipolar 1 and Bipolar 2
The essential feature of Bipolar I Disorder is a clinical course that is characterized by the occurrence of one or more Manic
Episodes or Mixed Episodes. Often individuals have also had one or more Major Depressive Episodes
The essential feature of Bipolar II Disorder is a clinical course that is characterized by the occurrence of one or more Major
Depressive Episodes accompanied by at least one Hypomanic Episode. Hypomanic Episodes should not be confused with the
several days of euthymia that may follow remission of a Major Depressive Episodes.
