toronto bipolar
What should I do if I have to break my lease?

I signed a lease for a 2 bedroom apartment with a friend of mine but my friend is bipolar, and moving to the city just made it worse. Hurt and threatened to go to the roof of the building, which really frightens and worries me. I suggested to him that he must return to his hometown, where its a little calmer. I have to leave because he could not afford to live alone. But have six months left on the lease and gave our two months notice (to the people who replace us.) We had friends who were willing to take the apartment, but withdrew at the last minute .. Weve put ads everywhere we could, but have had no luck so far (I've tried to put online ads, but it costs money that I have at this time, so if you know the sites are free, specifically for Toronto, which would be of great help.) I worry about my credit also, I hope that would not be affected.

A lease is not credit, so it should not affect your credit score. There are, however, services that maintain data on tenants who have risen from leases or otherwise not pay the rent. This could make it harder to rent, especially of some large corporations or apartment building. You should approach your landlord and explain the situation to see if he cut you a break.
