Questions about divorce in Illinois?

my husband and I are undoubtedly headed for a divorce. we both know things havent been right since the very beginning, and it has only gotten worse, especially the last 4 months.
We have a 10 month old son, and a dog. October would mark two years of marriage for us.

I have read that (in Illinois) in order to file for divorce under irreconcillable differences, you have to be separated for at least six months, that is if both parties agree on the grounds.

So do I start paperwork now? Or do I move out (I don’t want the house) and wait the six months to start the paperwork?

Will the courts look down on me if I move out first?
he tells me there is no way they’ll give me custody because I’m “mentally unstable” (I was diagnosed with bipolar 7-8 years ago, I believe misdiagnosed, haven’t taken meds in 6 years and am fine).
He has just lost his 4th job in 7 months. He also has anger issues.

Should I take the baby and move out now? Or wait until paperwork is started?

I’d think if you were sure this were going to happen and he has anger issues, you’d be best to make sure your share of the assets you both own (house, cars retirement funds) and the checking and savings accounts were divided; then I’d get a place to live and then worry about filing.
