bipolar schizoaffective disorder
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010How long the drugs must be for someone who has a schizoaffective disorder?
I've been on medication for almost 3 years and my psychiatrist says I should have long-term. Meanwhile, attended the seminar in which he said the drug would be lifelong. So what is it really true? Also, how is that the medication for bipolar disorder, the same as that of schizoaffective disorder? How are these different diseases each other?
Schizoaffective disorder category has two sub-types, bipolar and depression. From what I can tell from reading online, bipolar disorder seems have a more organized set of symptoms. If you suffer from bipolar disorder, also suffer from a schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder because it is a subset. In principle, you have the symptoms of schizoaffective disorder, but not specific symptoms of bipolar disorder. Ask your psychiatrist, but the long sentence term probably means for the rest of his life. These disorders can not be cured (at least not yet) and do not go away. They can be treated though and that's the good news.
