topamax bipolar dosage
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010I am Bipolar mixed state and need information on Topamax.?
I started seeing a psych. doctor over a year ago. I was on 325 mg of Topamax. She liked to had a freakin cow and instantly started dropping me down on the dosage because she said it was to high and it could have serious long term effects on me. I wouldn’t let her take me off of it completely so I am still on 150 mg. My question (and I only want serious answers) is how much is to much? and why the heck was she so freakin worried? Was it going to kill me or something? I felt fine on the high dosage…Since she dropped me I have been in the hospital once and think I may be headed there again!!!!! Help me PLEASE!!!!!!
I don’t know what could happen from too much, but I am taking 50mg two times a day from a neurologist for hand tremors and my psychiatrist told me that this was a “huge” dose. The psychiatrist and the neurologist both told me this drug does a very poor job at controlling your mood and doesn’t come close to drugs like depakote, lithium, and lamictal. The neurologist said it can’t even really be considered a mood stabilizer and is mainly used for tremors like I have, chronic pain, and migraine prevention. I am pretty sure that I am going to die from topamax because most days I will eat 2 pepsi’s and about 10 oreo cookies and that is it. I have no appetite and I have lost a lot of weight since I started this drug.
