Discharged from Psychiatric Hospital yesterday with this diagnosis. What is that mean? Discharged from Psychiatric Hospital yesterday with this diagnosis? What does this mean? Hello. I am a male aged 22 from Glasgow. Yesterday I was discharged after a period of six days in a psychiatric hospital.I received a seven-day supply of 20 mg Citalopram which I have to take once in the morning. The that I have to take my GP on Monday morning said that my diagnosis is (i quote) "recurrent depressive disorder – bipolar spectrum probable." My two questions are: 1) What does this diagnosis? Am I seriously ill 2) Does this mean I am bipolar? Thanks for reading and thank you for all your answers
I am not a doctor, but I'm in school finishing my degree in psychology. So, I'm a bit educated on these things, but I can only give my opinion personal, non-professional opinion. K? In addition, the diagnosis is different, I'm sure, from one country to another, so we have to let fall well. BUT – this diagnosis basically means you are depressed. It seems that the cycle of depression and mood. This could include times when it is actually up, even manic, but definitely their cycles of depression. There are several different types of BP disorders, some severe and some mild only. Some include manic states and not others. Once under the regular care of someone being able to explain to you exact diagnosis and what it means. "Spectrum bipolar "is not an official diagnosis here in the U.S., to my knowledge. But, basically, bipolar disorder to a lesser extent, at least that is what I understand of it. I looked around online, I put on the origin of the section a link to a site that I found very useful, BS, so you can check that out. I do not I worry about the actual name of the diagnosis, or the stigma associated with it. The most important thing is that you stay proactive mental health care and follow the guidance by your doctor. So just follow as required and be sure to stay under the care of a mental health professional, someone you feel comfortable. Remember, you took them, and you can always change doctors if you feel you need a second opinion or if you are dissatisfied with the care they are receiving. But def always remain under the care of a physician once you find someone you meet. It is particularly important to a person when you have a mood disorder bike, so they can chart their cycles. This will help them get a clear understanding of your condition and be able to treat more effectively. Best Regards.
