lamictal vs topamax in treating bipolar mild intrusive racing thoughts?

I have experience with both of these meds. I had been on Topamax for about a year and 1/2 and loved it, it was the wonder drug for me and I had lost 26 lbs.. went from a 12/14 to a size 6. Unfortunately I started to lose my hair in handfuls and had to stop the Topamax and my doc put me on the Lamictal. It did nothing for me and I fell into a great depression. I was ravenously hungry and gained 15 lbs in the 2 1/2 months that I was on it. I chose to go back on the Topamax. I take several supplements for my hair now and use women’s rogaine. My hair is healthy and looking good again and I feel pretty good. I have not quite gotten back to the mental health that I had before I switched to Lamictal and I have not lost all of the gained weight but I am hopeful in both areas.
