treatment children bipolar disorder

New Year … new problems .. Oh, do not persist.?

My son has been married for a year, has a baby boy. He left his wife and son before Christmas. Now I'm stuck in the middle. My son has gone to live with another woman, and suffered a relapse (bipolar disorder) refuses his medications, he says which to retreat. His wife calls and cries all day. My son was in a clinic for his behavior, I told him if he wants to go back and get that treatment. My fear is that has a bad streak and is threatening the people. really do not know what to do. Are you playing with us or really mentally ill again. Is 24yrs old. Thanks for reading and any advice given ….

It sounds as if your child has a genuine mental illness. However, once given a "label" by a doctor, is very easier to act that way. It's a trap many fall. It sounds to me like he is using his illness as an excuse to treat people badly. I feel so bad for his wife and son and also for his mother. Take care of yourself first. Give your daughter in support of the law. Love your grandson. And let your child make mistakes. He has made this problem Everybody. Having a mental illness is no excuse for the kind of behavior that is showing. Many people suffer from this type of disease and manage not to intentionally harm the lives of others. Sometimes the best love to give love is difficult. I know it will work in the end. Best of luck.
