treatment plan bipolar disorder
Has anyone had any success with losing weight gain caused by Seroquel and, if so, how did you do it?
I take 200mg of Seroquel every night for treatment of Bipolar Disorder II. It’s causing a lot of weight gain, in spite of following a diet and exercise plan that would surely result in weight loss under ‘normal’ circumstances. I suppose what I would like to know is whether or not ANY amount of exercise is going to make a difference and the types of exercise which have seemed to work best for anyone who HAS had success in this area.
I used to work in a detention center and most of the girls were prescribed this. They came in with these tiny little bodies and rapidly gained weight. The reason that they gained so much weight is that most psychotropic drugs cause an increase in appetite. I noticed the girls had major carb cravings. What is it that you are eating? If you have an increase in your appetite, try to fill it with foods that are healthy, low in fat and will fill you up. You could try having a bowl of oatmeal with a banana and a glass of skim milk for breakfast. What exactly is your diet and exercise plan? Also, how long have you been following it? Remember, it takes time to lose the weight. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
