If the device is an IGBT, connect the positive wire to the emitter and the negative lead to the collector terminal. Some devices have a protection diode across the collection and emitter junctions to protect against voltage transients of inductive loads. If this is the case, confirmed a voltage drop between 0.2 to 0.8 V DC. It Otherwise, there will be an open circuit condition. Reverse the DVM leads, and confirm an open circuit condition. If the device is a MOSFET, connect the positive cable Source Terminal Server and the negative lead on the run Terminal Server. This test equipment provides a voltage of inhibition to the DUT (Device-Under-Test) to confirm the device driver. This action would not normally can be achieved with a DVM. When using an IGBT & MOSFET Tester ensure that components are tested outside the circuit.
